Join Navigator North and Connor Clements, at The Masham to learn out about his innovative approaches to using new technology to reimagine and bring to life Middlesbrough’s Historic Quarter.

Connor will be sharing his ongoing work as part of the first phase of this research by exhibiting approaches to reinterpreting archival material. Prints and interactive VR walk throughs of modelled spaces in progress will be available for viewing, with visitors invited to offer feedback to support the further development of this virtual spatial archive.

As part of a MA Architecture at the University of Liverpool, WDT/Dovetail Joints Director Connor Clements thesis, ‘The Spatial Archive’ utilizes AI and VR technologies to reimagine and revive lost heritage structures and spaces of Middlesbrough’s past. Methods include experimenting with 3D modelling archival photographs and stitching them together with interpretive spatial tissue.

Connor Clements is currently an MA Architecture student studying at the University of Liverpool. Originally from Middlesbrough, Connor has previously managed and collaborated with a number of arts organizations in Teesside, digitizing the cultural output of the arts sector in partnership with galleries and educational institutions. Through current studies, Connor has focused on creating virtual twins, applying VR technologies in architectural design, and integrating AI/VR technology into heritage reimagining for public engagement.
